2-6" Delta Cobble
Description
2-6″ Delta Cobble is a great choice for dry creek beds, drainage applications, and bold accent beds because it combines the natural, weathered look of tumbled stone with the added texture and grip of fractured pieces mixed throughout. Its wide size range and mixed texture make it especially popular for naturalistic drainage swales and statement borders. It's also a versatile choice for residential and commercial xeriscaping projects. With its soft blend of mauve, tan, and cream-gray tones, accented by warm gold and rust staining, this stone brings an organic, quarry-fresh character to any landscape. Whether used as a decorative accent, a drainage solution, or a dry creek bed feature, 2-6″ Delta Cobble delivers both natural variety and lasting performance in virtually any application.

| 2″ | ~150 sq ft | Too shallow | |
| 3″ | ~100 sq ft | Too shallow | |

| 5″ | ~75 sq ft | Recommended | |
| 6″ | ~65 sq ft |

Note: Because this mix ranges from 2" up to 6", a typical installation depth is 5–6 inches to properly bed the largest stones without leaving them sitting loosely on the surface. Installing at less than 4 inches may allow weed barrier or soil to become visible around smaller pieces, and will leave the largest stones poorly anchored. When in doubt, test a small section first.
Product details, what you should know
- Sizing: Wide mixed range from 2" to 6", combining smaller filler-sized pieces with large statement stones in every load. Some pieces may fall outside this range as part of the natural mix.
- Cleanliness: Unwashed material with a moderate presence of fines (typically 10-15%) — cleaner than our fully crushed gravels but not as consistently clean as our fully tumbled cobbles, owing to the mixed rounded and fractured stone in this blend.
- Appearance: A natural mix of rounded, weathered stones and sharper, sub-angular fractured pieces, featuring a soft blend of mauve, tan, and cream-gray with warm gold and rust staining scattered across many faces. Colors deepen and become richer when wet. Color may vary slightly between loads.
- History: Material has remained generally consistent in size range, texture mix, and color over time. The mauve, tan, and cream-gray blend with gold-rust staining is typical of this stone, with minor variation between loads as expected with any natural quarried and river-sourced material. Colors tend to appear more muted when dry and deepen noticeably when wet. This was sold previously as a 2-3" size.
- Also known as: Commonly referred to as mixed cobble, natural blend rock, or drainage cobble.
Delta Cobble stands out for its mixed texture — the combination of smooth, tumbled stones and sharper, sub-angular pieces gives it a more natural, quarry-fresh look than a purely tumbled cobble, while still offering better underfoot comfort and visual softness than a fully crushed gravel. Its wide 2-6″ size range makes it a strong choice for dry creek beds and drainage applications where visual variety matters. Worth noting — the gold and rust staining becomes much more visible against the mauve and cream base after rain, making it a great choice if you want a natural, textured feature with warm accent color.
