2-4" Dusty Rose Cobble
Description
2-4″ Dusty Rose Cobble is a great choice for driveways, large-scale drainage, and bold accent applications because it stays firmly in place, resists shifting even in high-traffic or high-flow areas, and creates a substantial, natural look. Its larger size makes it especially popular for erosion control, French drains, and dry creek beds. It's also a striking choice for xeriscaping and statement borders where you want the rock itself to be a focal point. With its warm blend of dusty rose, salmon, and terracotta tones, accented by soft gray-tan pieces and subtle white mineral flecking, this stone brings a soft, earthy character with a hint of rugged texture to any landscape. Whether used as a decorative accent, a driveway base, or a drainage solution, 2-4″ Dusty Rose Cobble delivers dramatic scale and lasting performance in virtually any application.

Installation Depth Guide — Cubic Yard Coverage for 2-4″ Dusty Rose Cobble
| Depth | Coverage per Cubic Yard | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| 1″ | ~300 sq ft | Too shallow |
| 2″ | ~150 sq ft | Not recommended |
| 3″ | ~100 sq ft | Minimum depth |
| 3.5″ | ~90 sq ft | Recommended |
| 4″ | ~80 sq ft | Ideal depth |
| 5″ | ~70 sq ft | Usually unnecessary |
| 6″ | ~60 sq ft | Excessive |
Note: Because individual stones can measure up to 4½″, a typical installation depth is 5-6 inches for this rock — enough to fully bed the largest pieces. Installing shallower than 4 inches will leave larger stones sitting loosely on top of the base rather than nested in, which can cause shifting. When in doubt, test a small section first.
Product details, what you should know
- Sizing: Primarily 2″–4″ material. Some pieces may exceed 4½″, and the material will include a small amount of smaller particles and fines as part of the natural mix.
- Cleanliness: Unwashed material with a presence of fines (typically less than 10-15%). Fines from production, handling and transport are normal.
- Appearance: Fractured stone featuring a warm blend of dusty rose, salmon, and terracotta, with softer gray-tan pieces mixed throughout and subtle white mineral flecking on some faces. Colors deepen and become more vibrant when wet. Color may vary slightly between loads.
- History: Material has remained generally consistent in size and color over time. The dusty rose, salmon, and terracotta blend with gray-tan accents is typical of this stone, with minor variation between loads as expected with any quarried material. Colors tend to appear more muted when dry and deepen noticeably when wet.
- Also known as: Commonly referred to as large rip rap or crushed rose rock.
Dusty Rose Cobble is a large-format option with a softer, warmer palette than our grayer granites — it works well for driveways, drainage, and accent applications where you want scale without a cold or stark look. Its 2-4″ size gives it real visual weight and makes it well suited for erosion control and areas where stability under heavy flow or traffic is a priority. Worth noting — the dusty rose and terracotta tones deepen nicely after rain, making it a great choice if you want a large-format stone with a warmer, more inviting feel than typical gray rip rap.
