Installation Depth Guide — Cubic Yard Coverage for 1″ Construction Gravel
| Depth | Coverage per Cubic Yard | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| 1″ | ~300 sq ft | Too shallow |
| 1.5″ | ~200 sq ft | Not recommended |
| 2″ | ~150 sq ft | Minimum depth |
| 2.5″ | ~120 sq ft | Recommended |
| 3″ | ~100 sq ft | Ideal depth |
| 3.5″ | ~90 sq ft | Usually unnecessary |
| 4″ | ~80 sq ft | Excessive |
Note: A typical installation depth is 2–2.5 inches for this rock, which provides good coverage for most applications. Installing at 3 inches can offer added durability and longer-lasting coverage, especially in higher-use areas. Depths less than 2 inches may allow weed barrier or soil to become visible. When in doubt, test a small section first.
