Note: A typical installation depth is 3–3.5 inches for this rock, which provides good coverage for most applications. Installing at 4 inches can offer added durability and longer-lasting coverage, especially in higher-use areas. Depths less than 3 inches may allow weed barrier or soil to become visible. When in doubt, test a small section first.

- Sizing: Primarily 2"–3" material, with natural variation from piece to piece. Some pieces may fall outside this range as part of the natural mix.
- Cleanliness: Washed, smooth river-tumbled material with minimal fines — noticeably cleaner than our crushed/fractured gravels.
- Appearance: Smooth, rounded stone featuring a diverse natural blend of tan, olive, and mauve, with rust, gold, and gray highlights scattered throughout. This is one of our more color-varied cobbles, with real piece-to-piece range. Colors deepen and become more vibrant when wet. Color may vary slightly between loads.
- History: Material has remained generally consistent in size and color over time. The tan, olive, and mauve blend with rust and gold accents is typical of this stone, with minor variation between loads as expected with any natural river-tumbled material. Colors tend to appear more muted when dry and deepen noticeably when wet.

Rainbow Cobble is a smooth, colorful option that shines in decorative applications — think accent beds, dry creek beds, garden borders, and water feature surrounds. Its rounded, tumbled shape means it's not recommended for driveways or high-traffic surfaces the way our crushed gravels are; it's best suited as a decorative element rather than a structural or compaction material. Worth noting — this stone has excellent wet color, with the olive and mauve tones deepening and the natural mottling and banding becoming much more visible after rain, making it a great choice if you want a decorative feature that really comes alive with a little water.
