2-6" Grizzly Cobble
Description
2-6″ Grizzly Cobble is a great choice for driveways, large-scale drainage, and bold accent applications because it stays firmly in place, resists shifting even in high-traffic or high-flow areas, and creates a rugged, substantial look. Its wide size range makes it especially popular for erosion control, French drains, and dry creek beds where variety in scale is desired. It's also a striking choice for xeriscaping and statement borders where you want the rock itself to be a focal point. With its rugged blend of cream-white, tan-gold, and charcoal-brown tones, accented by dark mottled patches, this stone brings a wild, weathered character to any landscape. Whether used as a decorative accent, a driveway base, or a drainage solution, 2-6″ Grizzly Cobble delivers dramatic scale and lasting performance in virtually any application.

Note: Because this mix ranges from 2" up to 6", a typical installation depth is 5–6 inches to properly bed the largest stones without leaving them sitting loosely on the surface. Installing at less than 4 inches may allow weed barrier or soil to become visible around smaller pieces, and will leave the largest stones poorly anchored. When in doubt, test a small section first.
Product details, what you should know
- Sizing: Wide mixed range from 2" to 6", combining smaller pieces with large statement stones in every load. Some pieces may fall outside this range as part of the natural mix.
- Cleanliness: Unwashed material with a light presence of fines (typically less than 10%). Fines from production, handling, and transport are normal.
- Appearance: Fractured stone featuring a rugged blend of cream-white and tan-gold, with dark charcoal-brown pieces and mottled patches mixed throughout. Colors deepen and become more vibrant when wet. Color may vary slightly between loads.
- History: Material has remained generally consistent in size and color over time. The cream-white, tan-gold, and charcoal-brown blend with dark mottling is typical of this stone, with minor variation between loads as expected with any quarried material. Colors tend to appear more muted when dry and deepen noticeably when wet.
- Also known as: Commonly referred to as large rip rap or crushed mixed rock.
Grizzly Cobble is our widest-ranging crushed option — the mix of smaller and larger fractured stones creates a rugged, natural, boulder-strewn look, making it a strong choice for erosion control and dry creek beds where visual variety and a wilder aesthetic are priorities. Worth noting — the dark mottled patches and charcoal tones become much more pronounced against the lighter cream and gold pieces after rain, making it a great choice if you want a large-format stone with strong natural contrast.
